Defining Our Culture: Newmont’s Core Values

January 04, 2017

Newmont has been producing the metals and minerals that enhance lives for more than 95 years. With 27,000 employees and contractors working at operations and projects around the globe, our commitment to the highest standards of behavior is fundamental to achieving Newmont’s purpose to create value and improve lives through sustainable and responsible mining.

Newmont’s commitment to building a more successful and sustainable business is backed by five core values: safety, integrity, sustainability, responsibility and inclusion. These values articulate how employees, vendors, contractors and representatives are expected to conduct business on the Company’s behalf. These values guide the behavior of all Newmont employees and support a culture where each individual has the opportunity to achieve his or her full potential.

“Newmont has been a successful organization for nearly a century. Driving this performance is our team of high caliber people with strong values and a commitment to continuous improvement. Our core values obligate us to keep each other safe, act with integrity, serve as responsible stewards of the environment, promote inclusion, and deliver our business strategy in a way that generates value for all of our stakeholders,” said Newmont’s President and CEO, Gary Goldberg.

Our values, depicted in the graphic below, form the foundation of our business.

Over the coming weeks, we will be bringing you stories about our people and how they are living our values at operations around the world. In turn, their exceptional economic, social and environmental performance creates competitive advantage and supports a more efficient and effective business.
