Yanacocha Receives OHSAS 18001 Certification for High Health and Safety Standards

Newmont's Minera Yanacocha operation recently received OSHAS 18001:1999 certification thanks to our compliance with stringent occupational health and worker safety standards.

The OHSAS 18001 (Occupational Health and Safety Assessment Series) standards are a series of international voluntary standards applied to occupational safety and health management, whose norms and requirements can be applied to companies of any size and location. These standards were developed by the main certifying companies in the world, including more than 15 countries of Europe, Asia and America.

"This achievement is well deserved since Yanacocha has been successfully evaluated against worldwide recognized and highly demanding standards," said auditor Alvaro López Derpich. "This is a clear commitment to the safety of Cajamarca, employees and contractors."

Yanacocha Received Mining Safety Award

The Mining Safety Institute, an association made up of well-known Peruvian mining and industrial companies whose purpose is to improve safety in the country's mines, recognized Newmont's Minera Yanacocha operation for our high-performing health and safety performance at its XII National Mining Safety Competition.
