With a population of around 4,700 people, the town of Waihi boasts some of the most diverse and stunning natural scenery in the North Island of New Zealand. The surrounding area supports horticulture and dairy farming, and is within 90 minutes drive of half the population of New Zealand including the major city of Auckland. I have been working with Newmont since the beginning of 2005 and have come through the two-year graduate program. This allowed me to spend 12 months on another site in a fly-in, fly-out environment and the past year residing in Boddington.

The local community in Boddington is great. It’s close to Perth, you can get to places quickly, there are plenty of community clubs and events, and the climate is excellent all year round. The best thing about working in Boddington for me though is the people in my department, they are fantastic and the work culture is excellent.
