Summer Internship Program

Newmont wants to hire interns who are as curious as they are ambitious. We look for students who are interested in developing industry-specific skills and have demonstrated a passion and work ethic that will help them excel in and out of the classroom.

As a paid summer intern, you will join either Newmont’s operations in Nevada or our corporate headquarters in Denver. Interns are given the opportunity to learn about and experience different facets of Newmont’s business, from management at corporate headquarters to operations at our surface and underground mine sites. In addition to intensive on-site work, interns participate in team-building activities, including Newmont’s community service day and tours of our North American mining operations.

Newmont’s internship program is not just about the work they do but who they work with. Each intern is assigned a mentor who provides invaluable career coaching and guidance during and, oftentimes, long after the internship. Our interns generally find that the professional relationships they form with their mentors, colleagues and other interns are just as valuable as the practical knowledge they gain in the field. It’s also one of several reasons why many of our interns return for a second year and more than half of graduating interns join us on a full-time basis.

Colorado Intern Program

In Colorado, Newmont’s global headquarters, interns have the opportunity to work within our corporate departments and have access to some of the world’s leading technical experts employed in our Discovery and Development groups, including our Metallurgical Research Lab. Colorado interns also have the chance to roll up their sleeves and get dirty during a visit to our Nevada mining operations.

Nevada Intern Program

Nevada interns have the unique opportunity to work in one of Newmont’s operational mine sites. Nevada is the world’s fourth largest producer of gold and is where Newmont pioneered the mining of microscopic gold ore deposits. Because of the gold deposits’ geological structure, a wide range of processes are required to extract the metals. This allows for internships that are as rich and diverse as the region where mining takes place.

Why did you choose Newmont Mining for your internship?

Newmont is a highly respected company and I am proud to be part of their prestigious business. I chose this internship in search of real-world experience that will contribute to my career after graduating from college. As an International Business major, I preferred Newmont because of their global relations, which will provide me with greater insight on commerce with foreign countries. In my opinion, being selected as an intern is an esteemed opportunity.

What has been the most rewarding part of your internship experience?

The most rewarding part has been the experience of working side by side with such talented individuals. I have partnered with people who have accumulated expertise and knowledge over the years in demanding career positions. While working with them, I have had the opportunity to benefit from their experience and professionalism, and the privilege to collaborate and work with some of the industry's best talent.
