Life in South America
Newmont has mining operations in Peru and Bolivia. The largest of these is the Minera Yanacocha gold mine, near Cajamarca, Peru, in the Andes Mountains. Exploration is underway at the nearby Conga project to assess feasibility of developing a mine there as well. In Bolivia, social and environmental closure activities are underway the Inti Raymi operation.
In Peru, we are working to promote the permanent growth of the region in compliance with responsible practices that value the daily efforts of our workers. We are engaged in the edification of a new society in which mining can coexist with the other productive activities of the region.
