Life in South America
Newmont has mining operations in Peru and Bolivia. The largest of these is the Minera Yanacocha gold mine, near Cajamarca, Peru, in the Andes Mountains. Exploration is underway at the nearby Conga project to assess feasibility of developing a mine there as well. In Bolivia, social and environmental closure activities are underway the Inti Raymi operation.
In Peru, we are working to promote the permanent growth of the region in compliance with responsible practices that value the daily efforts of our workers. We are engaged in the edification of a new society in which mining can coexist with the other productive activities of the region.
Minas Conga, Peru
The Minas Conga project consists of two gold-copper deposits located northeast of Minera Yanacocha. Exploration and feasibility studies are underway.
Kori Kollo, Bolivia
For more than 25 years, we have been mining on the high plains of northwestern Bolivia near Oruro. Today, the operation is addressing social closure issues associated with the physical closure of the mines.

Located high in the Andes Mountains of Peru, Yanacocha includes four active open pits that have produced more than 26 million ounces of gold since the mine opened in 1993.
