Viewpoints
My journey with Newmont started at its newest underground mine in the United States, and led me across the world to the Callie Mine in the Tanami Desert. I love the variety here, as my job extends through many areas of the mining process – from logging core and underground mapping and interpretation, to tracking daily tons and grade, routing mined material to its correct destination and mentoring new staff.
The lifestyle is great, too. The camp has a good “home away from home” feel and has lots of facilities, including a gym and a pool. Working fly-in, fly-out on a 9 days on/5 days off roster also means I get plenty of time to relax and travel on my days off.
Overall, Newmont has offered me a dynamic environment in which to learn and be challenged. I’ve had unlimited opportunities to continue my education and grow in an ever-changing industry. How many other places let you see the world and do a job you truly love?
