Newmont's Jundee operation in Western Australia sits on the edge of the Western Desert. Employees fly into the site to work with their shifts, and live in private quarters at an accomodation village during their stay. The camp features a large dining room, a tavern, squash courts, a synthetic tennis/indoor cricket court, a gymnasium and an Internet room. The closest town is Wiluna, 16 miles (50 kilometers) away. A local Aboriginal community, the Indigenous people who reside here come from different tribal groups.

I started with Newmont in 2007 and although my family and I have only been in Australia for a relatively short time, it’s confirmed that I made the right decision.

When I joined Newmont, it sponsored my work visa and paid for all of the costs of our relocation. Newmont also assisted us with the initial settling-in period, all of which has helped tremendously and has made the transition much easier.

From a family perspective, it’s been an excellent choice for a variety of reasons. Everyone loves the lifestyle and my wife and I have both been very pleasantly surprised by the excellent standard of education in schools.

I’m currently working with a team of geologists and we have the challenging task of directing the ore development in the dynamic and demanding Jundee environment. It’s been a real pleasure to work in Newmont’s efficient production environment and I’m consistently stretched to meet the high standards of the operation. Of course I get no end of support and opportunities to expand my skills and knowledge. That’s another outstanding feature of working here.

Newmont is also an environment where results are well rewarded. If you’ve got the ability and motivation, you can easily find rapid advancement or move into and between the fields of resource geology or exploration. I’m completely satisfied with my decision to join this dynamic company and look forward to a long and rewarding association with Newmont.

Newmont is currently accepting applications for various roles at this site.
