Four Newmont mining experts joined some 75 authorities from industry, academia and government during a four-week training program on the metals, industrial minerals, aggregates and energy industries. Their audience consisted of primary and secondary school teachers, counselors and administrators who were all attending the 42nd annual All About Mining – A Total Concept of the Mining Industry conference at the Colorado School of Mines.
Since 1968, academics have learned about the value of mining through this program, which gives them tools to take back to their classrooms.
A special thanks to Bill Lyle, director of Closure and Reclamation; Larry Clark, director of Technical and Scientific Systems; Michael Nees, project engineering manager of Hydrometallurgy; and Sevket Acar, director, Research and Development Metallurgical Services for lecturing at the event.
