PT Newmont Nusa Tenggara (PTNNT) won Indonesia's prestigious Madya Housing Award for constructing housing and settlement infrastructure for employees. State Minister of Public Housing M Yusuf Asy'ari presented the award to the operation.
"Since commencing operations in 2000, PTNNT has either provided employee housing or an allowance to build homes outside of company's settlement complex," said Malik Salim, senior manager external relations.
The operation began renovating 75 houses late last year by refurbishing them with new roofs, walls and floors, and fitting them with proper windows and doors, and another 75 houses in other villages around the mine are in progress.
