A new hospital is ready to serve the villagers near Ratatotok Buyat, Indonesia thanks to the Goodwill Agreement between the Government of Indonesia and PT Newmont Minahasa Raya (PTNMR).
The Coordinating Minister of People Welfare of the Republic of Indonesia, the Governor of North Sulawesi Province, Regent of Southeast Minahasa and Kadar Wiryanto, senior manager external relations for PT Newmont Pacific Nusantara, inaugurated the Rp.66.6 billion hospital - one of the largest and most complete in eastern Indonesia - at a special ceremony this summer.
The building is equipped with an emergency unit, ambulance, laboratory, in-patient rooms, radiology, operating theater and maternity rooms. "This hospital is evidence of Newmont's commitment in the field of health and we hope the community will maintain it well," said David Sompie, site manager of PTNMR. "Although the mine operations of PTNMR at Ratatotok Buyat will soon end, the benefits can hopefully be felt by the community for many years to come."
Hundreds of community members attended the grand opening and received free health services.
