As the year comes to a close, Newmont wants to thank our employee volunteers who work to make a difference in their communities. Below are examples of how employees at just a few of our operations have made a positive difference:
Giving Homeless Students Backpacks Employees from Newmont's corporate office donated thousands of dollars and filled 515 backpacks with notebooks, dictionaries, pens and pencils so that Denver-area homeless students would not have to haul their school supplies in plastic bags.
Building Homes, Eliminating Blight Newmont gave $100,000 to allow Nevada high school students to build modern homes and improve previously blighted areas of their community. The skills and experience they gleaned are invaluable and can be used in future careers.
Raising Money to Raise Hopes The Tanami Granites team raised $50,000 in support of the Drovers Volunteer Service at the Alice Springs Hospital and to purchase items that provide patient comfort and care. Drovers' volunteers cater to patient needs by offering friendship, books/magazines, errand running and other support.
Payroll Team Aids Young Patients Members of the corporate payroll department donated their time to set up tablecloths, cover chairs, centerpieces, distribute literature and fold 1,000 napkins in preparation for the annual Children's Hospital Gala in Denver, which attracted an estimated 1,400 guests.
