Introduction
After introducing three new, world-class mines in 2006, Newmont continues to have a significant pipeline of new projects that will provide shareholders a continued foundation of consistent operating performance for years to come . These projects are located within the Company's core operating districts of Nevada, Peru, Australia and its newest region, Ghana.
Newmont continues its development work at Boddington, located 130 km (80 miles) south east of Perth in Western Australia. As of the end of 2006, construction was approximately 21% complete. Boddington reported 9.09 million equity reserve ounces (13.6 total ounces) of gold at year end 2006 and has significant non-reserve mineralization. Production is expected to begin in late 2008 or early 2009. Pre-stripping activities commenced in the first quarter of 2007.
