Energy Efficiency Opportunities (EEO)

As a large energy user in Australia, Newmont triggers the requirement to participate in the Australian Government’s Energy Efficiency Opportunities (EEO) program. The EEO program requires participants to conduct detailed assessments of their energy use in order to identify opportunities to improve energy efficiency. Participants are also required to publicly report the results of the assessment and the business response to the opportunities that have been identified. Further details on the EEO program can be found at www.energyefficiencyopportunities.gov.au.

Click here for Newmont Australia’s first public report, which covers the assessment conducted during 2008 at the Newmont Tanami Operation in the Northern Territory. An assessment at the Newmont Jundee Operation is planned for 2009 and at the Boddington Gold Mine in 2010. The results of these assessments and the business response will also be made public once they have been conducted, as well as a status update on the opportunities identified at the Newmont Tanami Operation.
